Damascus, VA

We pulled into Damascus, VA on Friday afternoon, after a very long 18 mile day. But with Kaci waiting at the local park, a shower, and two new mile stones accomplished I was glad to have walked the miles!  The mile stones that have been reached in the last few days: I am now done with Three States! and I have made it through 1/4 of the trail!


In more exciting news since I have last posted in Hot Springs I have almost been run over while sleeping and almost petted a bear!
 The night we left Erwin, TN we were camped out on the Beauty Spot, a wonderful bald that made a fairway, on top of a mountain. Unfortunately there was a parking lot near by and the perpetrator had a large enough truck to drive over the barricade, which made for a awesome 4 AM wake up call as he drove down and back!

The Bear was getting a little to friendly at a camp site beside a beautiful lake and after a few hours of waking up and scaring him away with sticks, rocks, and clapping he got with in 6 ft. of me while under my tarp! needless to say I had an early morning (1 AM) hike to the next camp site! only to find that he had followed me, Hedge Hog, and a girl who was also camped near by and also received a new trail name (Bear Blaze) because of the incident!

The last few days have been amazing hiking due to the beautiful scenery! 
I have stayed in a really cool converted barn!,

 seen some really awesome balds, and swam in an incredible river!
 So now its on words in a less traditional way. Hedge Hog and my self a going to ride North about 75 trail miles and walk back to Damascus for trail days while Stix will be walking North out of Damascus and we will hopefully be meeting up some time after that.
