I have ade it to Fontana! Trees and flowers are blomming and the mountains are alive with Spring Beauty! Siler Bald was a very amazing place and a great day hike for anyone looking for something to do in the area. Its a large bald mountain with a long green carpet of grass, it looks almost like an airstrip on an incline!
Last Saturday we were treaded to Three Trail Majic's, it was very cool. One for Breakfast; I ate biscuits, sasuage and gravy wich were home cooked and the great people form Burning Town Baptist Chruch Wouldn't stop bring me more! Then we had a double dose at Tellico Gap for lunch. Hot dogs and lunch food on one side of the gap (along with free stuff you might need for hiking: water bottles, zippies, hand sani, ect.) and then 10 yards away another group with Little Debbies, and Crackers, and drinks to put in you back for up the trail! My pack only got heavier that day!
We blew through the NOC but not without a great breakfast and some time spent with Kaci, everyone along the trail is amazed that she is coming to meet me so often, for only a few hours at a time, it is very nice to see her but it is really hard not to get in her car and let her take me home!
Today we reached Fontana, only a stones throw from The Great Smokie Mountains National Park! Can't wait to get into the interior and see sme bears. We (Stix, myself, & Hedge Hog) will be stoping in Gatlinburg for a day or two as Stix's wife has gotten us a place to stay there!
The Fontana Hilton (AT trail shelter with a great repetation) is reallyu nice and I can wait for a swim and a shower!
